Q & A

GET TO KNOW ME

Q: When did you start writing?

A: I could recall writing at a young age. In the sixth grade, I started writing a short story about a kid meeting the book fairy.

Q: Do you illustrate your books?

A: All of my books illustrations are done by me. I use Google Drawing where I take different shapes and form the characters and scenes in each of my books.

Q: What inspires you to write and create your characters?

A: My biggest inspiration comes from my four amazing kids. My first book "Ezekiel The Excavator Learns His ABCs" is based on my two-year son and his love for construction vehicles. I also take memories of my other children and create scenes or storylines in books.

Q: Aside from writing, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A: : In my spare time, I love spending time with my beautiful wife and outstanding kids. When we are not at Disneyland, we love to sit together and watch movies (we are HUGE Marvel fans).

Q: State a random fact about yourself that would surprise your readers.

A: One random fact that could surprise my readers is that I am terrified of heights. I have tried numerous times to overcome the fear of heights, however, it still lurks in shadows and creeps up on me from time to time.

Q:Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

A: For those aspiring authors, my biggest advice to you is, just do it. If you have a dream to write, start today, start tomorrow, or start next week. Do not let time take over your dream, instead use time to develop your dream into reality.

Q: What have you learned about writing and publishing since you first started?

A: Since I began my first book, the number one thing that I learned is to prepare. There will be delays, there will be errors, and there will be times that things just do not align. By planning ahead, obstacles will be eliminated.

Q: Anything you would say to those just starting out in the craft?

A: When starting self-publishing, you want to find your niche. Do the research, look at what others are doing, and find a way to incorporate your style to target your audience.
